Alienware for sale
Before I upgraded to my current laptop (Dell XPS M1530) I had a beastly and powerful blue monster. Also known as an Alienware. Yes, the younger sibling of Dell computers, thought at the time of my purchase of the Alienware laptop they were not part of the Dell family.
But anyway, the computer has been sitting under my bed for quite some time now. Ever since getting it back from the Alienware service department just before warranty ran out.

Don’t miss out…
I will make it the really really short version.
About 6 months before my three year extended warranty ran out, the computer started having hiccups. At first they were small, a freeze up here, a black flashing screen there (exaggerated just a bit). So I sent it in.They said:
- “it was the video card; it was shorting out. Will replace it”
After some time more problems, so I sent it in again! This time I said “The motherboard is fried”. But what did they do? They replaced the video card again!
When I received the laptop for a second time (by the way, service is located somewhere on the east coast, yeah, I am on the west… come on Alienware, your a huge company now. At the time of this service you were already bought by Dell) it worked perfect! For all of 25 minutes!
I have had enough, after a 30 minute (nice and quite, “I swear”) phone conversation. My beloved blue behemoth was off again! But when it came back, it was a bran, spanking new computer (pretty much).
This time they replaced:
- The LCD screen (because it had a dead pixel - even though it wasn’t covered by my warranty)
- One of the two(2) DVD+R Dual Layer Drives (it was making some noise..)
- The Video Card again.
- The Motherboard (finally, they listened!)
- AND…
- Both 1GB DDR PC3200 memory chips!!
Thats it, since then it is a brand new computer and is flawless! But it doesn’t get used anymore, so it is time to part ways with him.
I am going to put it up on eBay tomorrow at some time, once I wipe the hard drives and reinstall the OS. So then you can view the item, and maybe get your self a newly and wonderful laptop or as every one says “desktop replacement”.
